TJR is a Newbury-based heating and cooling specialist founded in 2020 by Timothy Rudd. We install, service, and repair heat pump and air conditioning systems for homes and businesses across Berkshire, north Hampshire, south Oxfordshire, and east Wiltshire. Everything we do is built around on principle: deliver the right solution for the property, installed correctly, with honest communication throughout.

Our Story

TJR Heating & Cooling was established in 2020 by Timothy Rudd with a clear focus – to provide reliable, trustworthy heat pump and air conditioning installations to homeowners and businesses across the Newbury area.

From the outset, the business has been built around doing things properly rather than doing things quickly. That means carrying out a thorough assessment before recommending any system, designing installations around the specific property rather than fitting a standard package, and seeing every job through from the initial conversation to final commissioning and handover.

Since founding the business, Timothy has developed particular expertise in low-carbon heating systems and energy-efficient cooling, keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology and holding some of the most respected accreditations in the industry.

What started as a focused local operation has grown into a trusted name for heating and cooling services across a wide area of the south of England.

Our Approach

At TJR Heating & Cooling, we believe the quality of a heating or cooling installation comes down to the detail. A heat pump fitted without proper heat loss calculations, or an air conditioning system installed without adequate thought given to the space it’s serving, will never perform as well as one that’s been properly designed from the ground up.

That design-led approach runs through everything we do. Before any work begins, we assess the property thoroughly, make sure we fully understand how it’s used, and only then make a recommendation. We don’t push a particular system because it’s convenient or margin-friendly — we recommend what we genuinely believe will perform best for that customer, in that property.

Where specific aspects of a project call for additional expertise, we work with a small number of selected, competent, and experienced subcontractors who share the same commitment to quality. You’ll always know who’s working on your property and why.

Who We Work With

We work with both homeowners and businesses across the region. On the residential side, our customers are typically looking to move away from gas or oil heating, reduce their energy bills, or add air conditioning to their home – and they want a specialist they can trust to guide them through the process properly.

On the commercial side, we work with businesses of all sizes on heating and cooling systems that need to be reliable, efficient, and cause as little disruption to day-to-day operations as possible. From air conditioning servicing for offices to full heat pump installations for commercial premises, we bring the same level of care and expertise to every project.

MCS accreditation is the nationally recognised standard for renewable energy installations, including heat pumps. Every heat pump installation we carry out meets MCS standards.

Vaillant Approved Installer

As a Vaillant approved installer, we’re trained and accredited to install, service, and repair Vaillant heat pumps and heating systems to the manufacturer’s highest specifications.

Our Which? Trusted Trader membership means TJR Heating & Cooling has been independently vetted and assessed against strict standards for customer service, trading practices, and quality of work.

REFCOM Registered

Our REFCOM registration covers all air conditioning and refrigeration work, ensuring full compliance with F-Gas regulations. This is a legal requirement for anyone working with refrigerants, and it’s a standard we take seriously.
